എന്തു വിശേഷം

വളരെ നിഷ്കളങ്കമായ ചോദ്യമാണ്‍ “എന്തു വിശേഷം”.അടുത്ത പരിചയമുള്ളവരെ കാണുബോള്‍ നമ്മുടെ അല്ലെങ്കില്‍ എന്റെ ഒരു  ചോദ്യമാണിത്.ഫോണ്‍ ഇത്രെയും common അല്ലാത്ത കാലം(അതിന്‍ ഏകദേശം ഒരു 15 വറ്ഷത്തെ പഴ്ക്കമ്മെയുള്ളൂ.)STD യുടെ rate കുറയുന്നത്, രാത്രി 10മണി കഴിഞ്ഞാണ്‍, അപ്പോള്‍ STD booth കളില്‍ ക്യു നിന്ന് വീട്ടിലേക്കും വിളിക്കുന്നതും ആദ്യത്തെ ചോദ്യം “ എന്തു വിശേഷം” യെന്നതായിരിക്കും.ആ ചോദ്യത്തില്‍ അമ്മ വീട്ടിലെന്നു മാത്രമല്ല.....ആ area യിലെ എല്ലാ വിശേഷങ്ങളുടെയും ഒരു ചുരുക്കം തന്നെ തരുമായിരുന്നു.ഇതൊക്കെ പഴയ കഥ!

ആ ചോദ്യത്തിലെ നിഷ്കളങ്കത മാറി തുടങ്ങിയത്,കല്യാണം കഴിഞ്ഞ് north india യിലെത്തിയതോടെയാണ്‍......പലപ്പോഴും ഒരിക്കല്‍ പരിചയപ്പെട്ട മലയാളികളെ പിന്നെ കാണുബോള്‍ ഞാന്‍ ഈ ചോദ്യം ചോദിക്കുമായിരുന്നു.നാട്ടില് നിന്ന് മലയാളിയായി വണ്ടി കേറിയവര്‍, ഞാന്‍ കാണുബോഴെക്കും –മലയാളത്തില്‍ നിന്നും മലയാലത്തിലേക്കും പിന്നെ മംഗ്ലീഷിലേക്കും എത്തിയവരായിരുന്നു.അവറ്ക്ക് അപ്പഴേക്കും മലയാളികള്‍ ഗോസിപ്പുകാരും news പിടുത്തക്കാരുമായി മാറി.അതിന്റെ ഒരു live example യായി അവര്‍, എന്റെ ചോദ്യത്തിനെ കണ്ടു.ചോദ്യത്തിലെ അപകടം മണത്തറിഞ്ഞ ഞാന്‍(അതിന്‍ 1-2 വറ്ഷമെടുത്തു)അവരോട് പകുതി തമാശയായിട്ടും കാര്യമായിട്ടും പറയുമായിരുന്നു-വെറുതെ എന്തെങ്കിലും ചോദിക്കണ്ടെ യെന്ന് വെച്ച് ചോദിക്കുന്നതാണ്‍ ആ ചോദ്യം.ഞാന്‍ അങ്ങനെ എന്റെ നയം വ്യക്തമാക്കുമായിരുന്നു.അതോടെ ആ ചോദ്യത്തെ ഞാനും മാറ്റിനിറ്ത്താന്‍ തുടങ്ങി. എന്തു വിശേഷം എന്നതിനു പകരം ഞാന്‍ എന്റെ വിശേഷങ്ങള്‍ പറഞ്ഞ് അവരെ മടുപ്പിക്കാനായി തുടങ്ങി.

കടല്‍ കടന്ന് വിദേശത്ത് എത്തിയപ്പോളാണ്‍(പല രാജ്യക്കാര്‍, പല ഭാഷ, പല സംസക്കാരം.....എല്ലാവരും ജോലി ചെയ്യ്ത് രക്ഷപ്പെടാന്‍ എത്തിയവര്‍......)ആ ചോദ്യം, ഇത്രയും ഗുലുമാല്‍ പിടിച്ചതായി തോന്നിയത്.....പല മലയാളികളും ആ ചോദ്യത്തിലാണ്‍ സംഭാഷണം തുടങ്ങുന്നത്......അതോടെ പലരും അങ്ങോട്ടും ഇങ്ങോട്ടും ചിലപ്പോള്‍ എന്നോടും complaint പറയുമായിരുന്നു.എന്തിനാണ്‍ അവര്‍, എന്നോട്, എന്റെ വീശേഷം ചോദിക്കുന്നത്,വല്ലാത്ത lady തന്നെ(എനിക്ക് അപ്പോള്‍ എന്റെ പഴയ situation  ഓറ്മ്മ വരുമായിരുന്നു).

കഴിഞ്ഞ ദിവസം ഒരു get together ല്‍, ഒരു മലയാളി സ്ത്രീ, കുറേ കാലത്തിനുശേഷം കാണുന്ന എന്നോട്...”എന്തു വിശേഷം “ എന്ന് ചോദിച്ചപ്പോള്‍.......എന്തോ എനിക്ക് അവരോട് ഒട്ടും ദേഷ്യം തോന്നിയില്ല പകരം വളരെ കാലത്തിനു ശേഷം ഒരു കൂട്ടുകാരിയെ തിരിച്ചു കിട്ടിയ പ്രതീതി ആയിരുന്നു........

Baked Crispy Chicken

Chicken Drumsticks - 6

Cornflakes crumbs - 2 cups

Pepper - 1 tsp

Buttermilk - 1 cup

Poultry saesoning - 2 tsp

Garlic powder - 1 tsp

Onion powder - 1 tsp

Paprika powder - 1 tsp

Salt - to taste

In a bowl, combine buttermilk, salt, pepper and poultry seasoning,  Add chicken and coat with the mixture. Let is stand for 2 hours.

Mix together the cornflakes crumbs, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder and paprika powder. Coat the marinated chicken with this.

Place on prepared baking tray. Braise with some butter. 

Bake at 180 C for 35 to 40 mins or until juices run clear.

Degree 2^nd yr ലെ college ജീവിതം അടിച്ചു തകറ്ക്കുകയാണ്‍ മിനി.കൂട്ടത്തില്‍ ഒരു പ്രേമവുമായതൊടെ...... computer ന്റെ മുന്നില്‍ നിന്ന് തലപൊക്കാനെ നേരമില്ല.chating and email യാണ്‍ പ്രധാന പരിപാടി, അല്ലാതെ കറങ്ങി നടന്ന് ആളുകളെ ക്കൊണ്ട് അതുമിതും പറയിപ്പിക്കാനൊന്നും അവളുടെ കാമുകന്‍ ഇഷട്മല്ല.......വീട്ടുകാറ്ക്കാണെങ്കില്‍ അവള്‍ രാത്രിയും പകലുമില്ലാതെ project കള്‍ ചെയ്യുന്നതു കണ്ട് ആകെ സന്തോഷം.ഡിഗ്രിക്ക് റാങ്ക് പ്രതീക്ഷിച്ചാണ്‍ അവരുടെ ഇരുപ്പ്.

OurFinancialMan- What is Base rate?

It is the rate fixed by individual banks, below which it should not give any loans and advances. It is as per RBI instructions, but the rates are fixed by individual banks.

 It differs from bank rate

 Bank rate is the rate at which RBI lends money to banks.

Fruit and Yogurt Parfait

Strawberry - 1 cup

Banana - 1 cup

Yogurt - 1/2 cup

Honey - 1 tbsp

Sugar - 2 tsp

Whipped Cream - For topping

Peel and dice the banana into small cubes. Cut the strawberries in halves. Add sugar to the fruits and wait for it to release its juices ( 30 mins).

Then take a tall glass, and layer the bottom with 1/3 of the fruits. Next layer, add 1/3 the yogurt and then pour some honey on it. 

Repeat till the glass is full and your fruits and yogurt is over.

Finally, top it with some whipped cream.

യാത്ര പറച്ചില്-2011

നമ്മുടെ ജീവിതയാത്രയില്‍ നിന്ന് ഒരു വറ്ഷം കൂടി യാത്ര പറഞ്ഞു പോയി.സാധാരണയായി ഒരു സ്കൂളോ ഒരു കോളേജില്‍ നിന്നോ യാത്ര പറഞ്ഞു പോകുബോള്‍, മനസ്സില്‍ ഒരു തരം വേദനയോ or ഒരു മരവിപ്പോ ആയിരിക്കും. പഴയതിനെ വിട്ടു പിരിയാനുള്ള വിഷമം......പക്ഷെ പുതിയ വറ്ഷം നമ്മള്‍ സ്വീകരിക്കുന്നത്, പാട്ടും ഡാന്‍സ്, fireworks......അങ്ങനെ ആകെ ബഹളത്തോടെയാണ്‍.നിലവിലുള്ള വറ്ഷത്തെ നമ്മള്‍ countdown നടത്തി........പുതിയതിനായി കാത്തിരിക്കുന്നു!

ഇപ്രാവശ്യവും പുതുവറ്ഷത്തെ സ്വീകരിക്കാനുള്ള പരിപാടികളുടെ നോട്ടീസുകള്‍ എന്നും വരുന്ന പത്രങ്ങളില്‍ കൂടി കിട്ടിയിരുന്നു. Shopping Mall ലാണെങ്കില്‍‍, restaurant കല്‍‍- രാത്രിയോടെ, ബുഫ്ഫെ പാക്കേജ് യാക്കി.ഏറ്റവും വില കുറഞ്ഞതു Rs.1399-ഒരാളക്ക്, drinksയും കൂടിയുണ്ടെങ്കില്‍ Rs.2000 യാകും. night club ലാണെങ്കില്‍,couples ന്‍  Rs.7000 യും അല്ലെങ്കില്‍ Rs.4000 ഒരാള്‍ക്ക്....( കല്യാണം കഴിച്ച്തുകൊണ്ട്, അങ്ങനെ ഒരു ഗുണമുണ്ടായി യെന്നു ഞാന്‍ പറഞ്ഞപ്പോള്‍, girl friends നെ ഇഷ്ടം പോലെ വാടകക്ക് കിട്ടും മെന്നാണ്‍ പറയുന്നത്.......കലികാലം!)

DJ മാരുടെ കാലമാണ്‍, ഈ സമയം.ചില സ്ഥലങ്ങളില്‍ 2-3 DJ( വില അനുസരിച്ച്)......അവര്‍ തമ്മിലുള്ള മത്സരമാണ്‍ ആ club/ restaurant ന്റെ plus point!

ഇതൊക്കെ 2011 നോടുള്ള commercial ലായിട്ടുള്ള യാത്ര പറച്ചിലും 2012 നോടുള്ള സ്വീകരണവും.എന്നാല്‍ എനിക്ക് പുതുമ തോന്നിയത്......soft engineer മാരോട് ഇതിനെ പറ്റി ആരാഞ്ഞപ്പോഴാണ്‍.........അവരുടെ എല്ലാ friendsയും  google conference room ല്‍  wait ചെയ്യുതു ...new year wish ചെയ്യുതു പിരിഞ്ഞെന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

പുതുവറ്ഷത്തോടെ പലരും നന്നാവാനും പുതിയ നല്ല ശീലങ്ങള്‍ follow ചെയ്യാന്‍ ശ്രമിക്കാറുണ്ട്.New Year Resolution യെന്ന് നമ്മളതിനെ വിളിക്കുന്നു.”throughmymindനും അതിന്റേതായ resolution നുണ്ട്.....കൂടുതള്‍ പേരില്‍ നിന്നും (Readers’corner)-ല്‍ നിന്നും articles പ്രതീക്ഷിക്കുന്നു.നിങ്ങളുടെ ഹോബികല്‍,യാത്രാവിവരണങ്ങല്‍.........അങ്ങനെ എന്തും....

Is there any change in NRE deposit rates?

Yes RBI has deregulated interest on NRE deposits.
South Indian bank, Federal bank and SBT almost all banks are offering 9.5per cent interest on NRE deposits now as against 3 to 4 per cent interest a month back
After sb interest deregulation, this is a major step in deregulation of interest rates in India 

NanKhatai

All purpose flour - 1 cup

Baking powder - 1/4 tsp

Salt - 1/8 tsp

Powdered sugar - 1/2 cup

Butter - 1/2 cup

Cardamom powder - 1/4 tsp

Nutmeg - 1/4 tsp

Preheat oven to 160 C.

Take butter at room temperature and add powdered sugar. Mix till a creamy texture is obtained. 

Mix in the dry ingredients of flour, baking powder, salt, cardamom and nutmeg powder. Add this to the butter sugar mixture and knead into a dough. Let it rest for 15 mins. 

Divide the dough into small lemon sized balls and place on greased baking tray. 

Bake at 160 C for 15 mins. Cool completely before serving.
